1. Who we are
ByteRooms ("we", "us") operates byterooms.com — a platform for collaborative LLD/HLD interview practice, AI design reviews, peer reviews, and optional purchase of Byte Coins (BC).

2. Data we collect
- Account: Google sign-in may provide your name, email, and avatar. We also store a display name you choose and optional profile details you add.
- Practice content: solutions, chat messages, review comments, AI review results, and room activity needed to run the product.
- Wallet & purchases: Byte Coin balances, ledger entries, and purchase records (pack, amount, Razorpay order/payment ids). We do not store full card numbers or UPI PINs — those are handled by Razorpay.
- Technical & analytics: basic device / browser signals, approximate location from IP (via our hosts), and product analytics / error events (e.g. PostHog) to keep the service reliable.
3. How we use data
- Provide rooms, reviews, rankings, wallets, and support
- Process payments and prevent fraud / abuse
- Improve AI review quality and product reliability
- Send transactional notices (e.g. review delivered, payment credited)
We do not sell your personal data.
4. Payments
Card, UPI, and netbanking payments are processed by Razorpay. Their privacy terms apply to payment credentials. We receive payment status and identifiers needed to credit Byte Coins and keep financial records.
5. Sharing
We share data only with:
- Infrastructure providers (e.g. hosting, database, analytics) under contract
- Payment processors (Razorpay) to complete purchases
- Authorities when required by law
Other users may see what you publish in channels, rooms, and public profile surfaces according to product features.
6. Retention
We keep account and practice history while your account is active and as needed for security, dispute resolution, and legal obligations (including purchase records). You may request deletion or correction by emailing support@byterooms.com; some records may be retained where the law requires.
7. Security
We use industry-standard controls (HTTPS, access-limited server keys, signed payment verification). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
8. Children
ByteRooms is intended for users who can form a binding contract in their jurisdiction (typically 18+). Do not use the service if you are under the applicable age.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date on this page. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
